Real Estate, I love it!

Hi I am the Broker and founder of J. Wright & Associates, Inc. my name is Jennifer Wright and yes I love my job. I feel the best thing about my job is helping others. As you may have read earlier buying or selling real estate in a very stressful time for people. Your stress is my stress and I don’t like stress so I have learned to keep it to a minimal for all parties. After all isn’t it that the path traveled is more important than the destination. Not to say getting to the closing table isn’t important; that is the goal, but I feel one must choose the right road to that destination.

Now a little about myself, I have been in the real estate field in one aspect or another for about 30 years. I guess this is where the age and experience thing come into play! My first apartment became my first experience in real estate. I became the manager after just four months time. From there I bought my first home. It was there I learned a lot about home finance. You see the home was just a shell and needed the entire inside to be completed before it was to be livable and loan worthy. To be young and dumb again! A wonderful time indeed. From there I continued to buy, sell and learn. I decided to get my real estate license and become an agent. Though I accomplished that goal I didn’t stay an agent long. You see when I started buying real estate I of course had a full time job and just wasn’t willing to give it up so easy. But as time went on I continued to work and maintain a real estate existence. Which of course has taken me down a wonderful road of my own and landed me where I am today.

The experience life has given me thus far has come in very handy when helping other with their real estate needs. I have held down a variety of jobs, the spice of life if you will. I started out in high school working a Christmas job as a clerk in a jewelry store. Which lead me to be the kennel help at a pet store, now that was a fun job, most of the time. From there to a cashier at a local grocer. It was then I decided to go to college, I bet you are thinking a business degree of some nature. Wrong, I went for a commercial arts degree with photography major! I worked it that field for a few years at the Chrysler Museum. It was about that time I bought my first home, you remember the gutted one. I became very nervous about having to pay “Vepco” as the power company was known at the time. So I took on a part time job as a bartender. Wow was that a job to learn about people or what. I left the Museum to take a management position at the lounge I bartended for. Just to find out months later it was for the busy season only. This is where I learned the importance of details! When the season ended so did my management position and back to bartender I went. But still nervous about that power bill I took a job at Howmet as it was known at the time. Still working as a bartender and now rehabbing the apartment home I used to manage, ended up buying that as well. As we all know life has a way of throwing us curve balls right about the time we think we have it all figured out. After years of service with Howmet, Howmet just like any business made some adjustments and I was one of them. Along with a number of people I was layed off. Hence a new adventure. It was at this time I opened a retail store and started my family. But again just when you think you have it down to a science, here comes another change. Divorce, that should really be a four-letter word! It was here I got to relive life. By that I mean I had to retake all the classes and exams to reestablish my real estate license. I have maintained that license since then. I had the pleasure of working for three wonderful firms here on the peninsula since closing the retail store. It is a funny story, for another time, I had the bright idea to open my own real estate firm. Well it has been about four years now and to date no regrets.

Of course there is more to the story, how sad it would be to have a life that amounted to just a few short paragraphs. But I think you get the gist of it all. I have worked in a variety of fields which have given be a lot of experiences with people and also life’s challenges. All of which has given me the knowledge to help folks from all walks of life to accomplish their dreams of home ownership and investments.
